We flew Southwest airways from Des Moines to Pittsburgh because they allowed us an extra suitcase! (Among other reasons.) I had never flown with them before. They don't assign you a seat...it's first come, first served. The deal is that the first to confirm their booking on line get a number placing them at the head of the line getting on the plane...then you pick the seat you want. Weird...but it works.
When we got to our gate, their were a series of posts to line up at with numbers written on them. We lined up behind the 50-55. (It helps people get in the correct place. (We also had the letter A, so we were the first group lining up...as opposed to the the letter B group or C group.) This system is old news to people living in the south, but it was a first for us. (We really liked the extra suitcase thing...and they served peanuts! I thought nobody did that anymore!)
