The life-sized cow carved out of butter, (also Abe Lincoln carved out of butter,) chocolate-dipped soft pretzel with almonds, the HUGE bull...and boar...and pumpkin, fresh-squeezed lemonade, riding a chair-lift over the fair grounds to the top of a hill to another exhibition hall (which contained the tallest corn stock!), were all part of making the Iowa State Fair a delightful experience.
It also was inspiring to see all the creativity: painting on windows, a cake decorated like the Candyland game, tires stacked and spray-painted purple and containing a cushion in the middle to form a chair for a girl's room, and lots more. 
Awesome! You know you live in a land of plenty when people use so much butter for carving! I really want to try those pretzels.
