The house is finally bare...Well, not quite, but almost!
The left-over furniture went to the Lutherans who collected it for new immigrants.
We got the big Budget Rental Truck and put all but Grandma's bed and our suitcases into it. There was a little mishap with the truck and the corner of Grandma's gutter. The truck was taller than Kerry thought. When he tried to avoid the guidewire to the tower...OOPS! Janet's dad spent the afternoon straightening it out, caulking, and painting it.
Then Janet organized a church pizza party at our empty house. Folks brought salads and desserts as well chairs to sit on outside. Lots of teary people.
When everyone left, we sat on the fireplace hearth and the floor and played
Crazy Rummy. Everyone was tired out, but it was good to relax and not think about all the last things that need doing before leaving in the morning.Grandma's neighbours bought mattresses over so Dan and I have something to sleep on. Yahoo!
It'll be good to get on the road and have all the "getting ready" behind us.
