2016 Trip to the States: "Nittany Lions!"

After visiting two couples (and long-time ministry supporters) in Hershey, PA,   Dan and I spent the next day with Becky and family at Penn State University to see a football game.  (The last game Dan saw in person was in the '70's!)  After days of nice weather, the temperature dropped to 42 F. (5 C.) The wind was bitter (wind-chill at 32F or 0C).

We each had on 5 layers of clothing.  We stopped at Walmart and picked up some hand warmers (little teabag-looking things that, when exposed to the air, heat up and keep warm for 10 hours.)  I had those things tucked all over in- between layers of my clothing!  We also bought white T-shirts to wear because the game was a "white-out"...meaning all the fans were meant to wear white.  (My white shirt, however, was only my 4th layer, because Becky loaned me a black wool jacket for the 5th layer.  Oh well...better warm than trendy!

Bearing the cold was well worth it though, as we saw the pageantry and excitement of college football.  The Penn State Blue Band marched and played, fireworks went off during the National Anthem (at the lyrics of "...and the rockets red glare..."), baton twirlers twirled...and best of all, we won the game, in spite of being the underdog!  Go, Nittany Lions!
