Crazy Rummy! There's nothing like playing this game with family. It makes me feel at home, connected to my grandparents...and part of a tradition. The same phrases reappear that I heard first from the lips of Grandma Rissie, or my dad. (Phrases like: "Breast your cards!" or "Boards-a-play!" or "Who dealt this mess?" or just complaining about a lack of wild cards, then teasing someone else when they open, saying, "Wild cards...of course!" Even when someone slams their hand on the discard pile before picking it up...reminds me of Dad. There's also the tradition of laughing so much you cry...and then the men rolling their eyes when you do! AND, there's also the tradition of eating yummy things as you contemplate you hand or await your turn (especially popcorn with parmesan cheese!)
We heard the preacher from another church that supports our ministry out here, say, "Family is who you do life with!" It's a joy doing life with my family... here, and in New Zealand!
