2015 Furlough: An Adventure With Grandma!

We're on our way into the unknown to the land of the Stars and Stripes with Grandma in tow!  First stop:  Sydney, Australia.

Before getting on the plane, Grandma had a little episode with the scanning people.  It seems she put all her lotions and liquids in her carry-on bag.  (Because she's made the trip several times, we didn't check with her.) Anyway, her shampoo and lotions were taken.  (Sad emoticon)

Upon landing, we took a shuttle to our (cheap) hotel.  (Definately of the bare-bones variety...but within walking distance of the train into town).

Grandma became quite proficient at sticking her ticket in the train station gate machine, pulling it out of the slot when it popped up, and having the gate open.  We took the train to the exit by the Sydney Opera house, strolled by the shops, got yummy waffle cones, then found the ferry for a cruise around the harbour.  (Yup, more practice with the ticket/gate machine.)

It was a beautiful day, and a relaxing way to unwind a bit from the whirlwind of getting ready for this furlough.

Because we were all so tired, we went to bed early in preparation for our long flight in the morning.  Besides, we couldn't see the TV from our bed because of the position of the bunkbed Grandma was sleeping in...and if when we leaned back against the wall when sitting in our bed, the bed rolled away from the wall. (TeeHee)

They are calling for our flight, so check this post tomorrow and we will have added photos.
