Day 2: Day 1 (July 17th) Revisited

Because of the dateline, we experienced two July 17ths.  Our second July 17th was:
  • Having a shower & massage in the San Francisco airport (after our 12-hour flight all night),
Free filtered water in San Francisco!
Ahhhhhhhh, that's nice... in SF airport!
  • Seeing Mt. Hood & the Columbia River through the plane window as we landed in Portland,
  • Meeting my mom at the airport (sorry no picture - for now),
  • And getting our friends' car which has kindly been loaned to us, and tooling down the road to another friend's house to stay while we're here.

Even though a little brain dead with lack of sleep, I (Kaylynn) managed NOT to walk into the wrong bedroom in the middle of the night when returning from the bathroom.  (It took a long pause and much concentration, but embarrassment was diverted!) We feel very welcomed here.

We're still getting used to the time difference - Kaylynn was up from 2-4 am last night and then up again at 6:30 this morning :-(.   She wrote most of this, but I (Dan) am finishing it for her as she is now asleep! (And we'll do Day 3 & 4 tomorrow).

Philosophical question: how old is too old to sit on the floor at the gate while waiting to board your plane?  When does "acceptable" become a little "undignified"?
"acceptable" or "undignified" - by our SF gate.
Dinner in Portland while waiting for Kaylynn's Mom!

  1. Hush puppies! Yeah, I recently sat on the floor of an airport doing my programming work because that's where the outlet was on the wall. I felt pretty cool. But, come to think of it, that's not saying much...
