Here we are at our organization's US staff training in Fort Collins, CO. Because we live overseas, we don't usually attend this conference...but this year marks 40 years serving with Campus Crusade for Christ, Int'l. (or Cru, as its called in the States.) We thought it'd would be a good time to visit our "mothership" since we were Stateside for our furlough.
We keep running into old friends...and yes, they tend to be grandparents! There's a surprising number of people older than us here as well. Quite a change from 40 years ago, when the majority seemed to be young single people...although there's plenty of those folks here as well.
Today we ran into Alistair Bradley, a Kiwi, who will turn 80 this year. He moved to the States to be with his daughter's family, and has worked with international students on university campuses here. He's thinking of retiring, though.
Many people are introduced during our main sessions who are not from our ministry now, but have either formerly worked with us or have been influence by us and are now doing really cool things. This one guy (who used to work with our high school ministry) is making a reality movie series that he hopes will be picked up by Netflicks. The show is called Chasing Wild. He and his wife take on 4 very troubled young adult males, take them to a ranch, pair them up with wild Mustangs (which are also considered unredeemable), and a coworker teaches them skills in taming a horse of their choosing. We got to see teasers for most of the segments. It's pretty powerful viewing!
