2018 Summer in the USA -End of Week 2: Road Trip!

After 2 weeks in Iowa, we're on the road.  We've had a wonderful visit with my family.  It's so good to be with the people with whom you have a shared history!  We laughed, played the card games our family has played together with my own grandparents, we went through mom's hope chest, went to the John Wayne Museum, and heard  Drew announce the softball girls team members over the loudspeaker during their games.  It was hard to say good-by to these people close to my heart.

But now we're starting out on our road trip adventure, taking 3 days to travel to South Carolina to visit Dan's sister and brother-in-law. This morning we woke up in Springfield, IL and visited the Lincoln Museum.  Oh My Goodness!  We went to a show inside called "Ghosts of the Library"...I wish we would have had time to sit through it twice! It was so creative in it's special effects that we didn't know if the guy on stage was real or a projection. We came away with a great appreciation for Abraham Lincoln, as he stood firm when criticized from all sides, as well as facing his own personal losses.
