Portland Rose Fesitval

Two weekends ago we were able to celebrate in the Rose Festival in Portland. I have never been to any of the annual events before and it was a lot of fun! One of our good friends has been racing Dragon Boats for 8 years now, and we were able to see two of his races (and many others). Here is a picture of Pat and his team crossing the finish line first (and grabbing the green flag).

You can see the bank where we were sitting to watch the races (we were in the blue chairs).

We were able to see about 2/3 of the Rose parade (all floats were covered entirely of plant matter – flowers, etc). Lots of fun!

We then walked the Esplanade along both sides of the Willamette River (crossing two bridges) – to enjoy this beautiful city!

Lots to do in the 10 days before Julie & Jordan arrive (on the 26th of June).

  1. Hey! Seeing as no one has posted a comment in a while, I feel it's my duty as the favorite child abroad to reply. =) Wow, that's so cool you got to go to the Rose festival after all these years! I take it mom's been before?

  2. Yes, Mom has been before - but long time ago (before my time).
